The #1 Truth About Being a Military Spouse

My shocking truth…

Treasure James

Hey!

Like you all know, I’m Treasure and my husband is a soldier. I’ve been married to the army(I mean my soldier…lol) for about 14 years now. That means we’ve been together in the military for a while now.

I never knew what I was getting into when I fell in love with a hot military guy as I didn’t grow up around any military relative or friend. Let’s just say I literally jumped onto being a military girlfriend and then a military significant other.

I knew nothing!

Seriously, nothing!!

But, even if I knew, we were already SO in love I wouldn’t have thought of anything else 😀

Military life is filled with HIGHS and LOWS. Being a military spouse can get really tiresome. Not everyone knows how much the military runs not only your soldier’s life but yours as well. Oftentimes, the military makes huge decisions for you. It’s very difficult. I must confess!

Anyway, before I tell you the #1 shocking truth about being a military wife, I would love to say that, this is my opinion. Not everybody is going to feel this way. I totally understand as no military spouse lives are the same.

I, personally, feel every military relationship is different. Because, we all have our individual spouses who live individual lives with their own individual responsibilities.

So, guess what??

The #1 shocking truth is….,

YOU’LL NEVER GET TO BE #1 IN YOUR SOLDIER’S LIFE – HaHa HaHa, you wouldn’t have guessed right.

Ever heard the phrase, “If the military wants the soldier to have a wife, they would have issued one?”

Aha!, You get my point now, Right?

Anyway, not being #1 shouldn’t make you feel bad because your soldier isn’t #1 either in his/her life. This is because your soldier is married to the military who is the #1 wifey and she gets all the damn attention!

In all honesty, in my own case, the military is #1 and he’s #2(bride and groom😃). His immediate boss is #3 and then I, Treasure is #4This makes me jealous and I’m not kidding because I would rather be #1.

As a new bride, I once asked him, “If he’s married to me or the military?”

I mean, why do I have to be #4? He told me that it’s better that way because that makes me the new and last wife who gets all the affection…Hehe Hehe.

Hmm…Do you think it’s better that way?

Well, you know what? It doesn’t matter what number I am. What matters is that he treats me right and I know I’m in the right place with the right person. That’s all that matters.

If you’re a military spouse or a service member reading this, I want you to know, “I’m constantly in awe of our military and their families“.

It’s amazing what we all overcome.

Thank you for your family’s service!

Wishing you all the best!!
