COMBAT EXPOSURE

They fought to keep us safe

The rising cases of insecurity the world over has led to an increasing need for recruitment and involvement of more security personnel in policing. This will ensure a stable society devoid of acts of terrorism and other unlawful acts. This increased involvement of security agencies like in the case of Nigeria and other parts of the world has its attendant risks for the personnel involved.

According to media reports, cases abound in which the insurgents have attacked and decimated a lot of military bases and inflicted heavy casualties on men and equipment. This has led to the death of lots of security personnel cutting across the military, paramilitary, police, and other support agencies. Many security agents remain unaccounted for and are often declared ” missing in action” but never to return.

They will never again get to see hugs, smiles, or say anything to their families…Ever again!

They fought to keep us safe!

Servicemen and women that served our nation in uniform!

Individuals who were willing to do whatever it takes to defend our country!

They fought for their families, country, and even humanity itself!

Brave men and soldiers for life!

POST – TRAUMATIC STRESS DISORDER

I can’t stop thinking of those that survived and what they go through. Though they may look tough and not broken because they are soldiers but they are human beings too. Men and women in FLESH and BLOOD. They are brave men wounded with deep invisible wounds to their hearts and minds.

Have you ever imagined what they feel as a result of the combat exposure?

The flashbacks, nightmares, anxiety, anger, depression, and heartache. That is called Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Do we have an organized and effective system in place that takes care of soldiers brought back from the battleground?

Because getting timely help and support will prevent normal stress reactions from getting worse and developing into PTSD.

Is there really a system in place that track soldiers from the battle area, counsel and teach them how to fix Post – Traumatic Stress?

If at all there is, is it functioning the way it should, and are there competent professionals employed to carry out the duty?

This is very necessary.

Above all, always remember, Post – Traumatic Stress is not necessarily a disease when it’s natural.

God bless all our men and women in uniform!
